So, whether you’re chic and trendy, classy but a little fussy, minimalist with a got-to-have-it list, one thing is for sure we are all fashion lovers in one way or another. Whether the fashion is/was fanny packs, chunky heels, plaid, biker shorts, sequins, off the shoulder and crop tops; we feel its time to say goodbye to some of the trends and hello to the ones we are adding to the mix before the year is out. How about incorporating some of what we have listed below? And of course we have included some timeless pieces for the women who are not into trends and fads.

Here’s The List:

Bell-footed pants
These lovely pants are making a comeback; last year it was belled sleeves this year it belled pants. Skinny Jeans have been trending for so long I can hardly remember a time before skinny jeans became mainstream. The ‘skinny’ trend became so popular, even men copped it after a while, but bell-footed jeans or as I prefer to call them ‘Bellaz’ are back in the spotlight. Whether its regular jeans or office wear, this trend which dates as far back as the disco days of the 70s and 80s is back on the scene with new flair. Wanna double the statement, wear them high-waisted with a statement beat or with seams on each leg. The palazzo pants, a close cousin is also trending and are just as versatile.

Pleats: Another bold trend that has also found its way back in mainstream fashion, is pleats. Whether it be steamed or just your regular pleats, whichever, will surely do. I tend to go for fabrics that are lighter, like
chiffon but there are equally flattering pleats in cotton mixes and other fabrics, find something that suits you and your style.

Floral Prints: This trend will make you a walking bouquet and hey almost everybody loves flowers right? Even so you might want to be a little careful when choosing your prints, you don’t want to end up being chased by a bunch of bees, keep it simple. Pairing florals with solid colored pants, skirts or blazers always spruces up any look, be creative!

Jumpsuits: Jumpsuits these days are a hit for almost any occasion whether it’s a day at the beach with friends and that special someone or another day on the job; there’s a jumpsuit that will have you saying no to everything else screaming to get out of your closet. Pair with a blazer, cardigan or poncho for a more formal reserved look or just leave it be and accessorize for a more casual one.

Ruffles: Ruffles are sexy and flatter every body type, they add a sophisticated, playful feminine touch to pretty much any outfit. Wearing ruffles can be tricky but the general fashion rule applies of using pieces to highlight or play down a desired part of the body. So, say for example you wish to highlight your hips and waistline; a peplum top would do justice, whereas to highlight your hips you’d go for a peplum skirt also known as mermaid-tailed

Two-piece sets: This is probably my fave current trend, not quite sure why, maybe because it makes us look so much like the boss ladies we are! I like to think of this trend like this; corporate met chic and had a baby. From
sleeveless to sleeved, structured to less structured blazers paired with shorts, skirts or pants, they are simply drop dead gorgeous. This trend will definitely be staying with us for a while.

Berets: For the past couple of years, hats have been a thing, at first it was the cute little fedoras, then it was the huge broad-rimmed felt or straw hats and last year it was visors; cotton, faux leather, psychedelic, there
was just about every kind of visor you could think of. Now its Berets, they are not only cute but add French chic and elegance to almost any outfit. Wear with black and white stripes to get that perfect French look or just any other outfit for a retro or modern look. A with a touch of colour and bam! you’re turning heads. Some are plain, some beaded, bedazzaled; pick choose and refuse.

It’s now time to style ladies! be spontaneous! be daring! things can look really dull and boring on a hanger yet look extremely gorgeous on a body, any body. Be open to trying new things and remember…

“Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self- expression and, above all, attitude”.

Until next time!
