I can remember a time when life was more simplistic, a time when I think nature was in love with us and we in love with nature. I often hear that time heals everything and while that is true it is also true that time does other things and sometimes not things to our benefit.

As I look back on the last 10 or let’s say 15 years; I realize that with time many changes have taken place. I remember being employed to a certain organization that had the best culture possible. If the culture could have been bottled and sold, as team members we would all be millionaires. It was a great period but as time moved through the company, everything we knew ourselves to be, changed.

I look at my kids and I remember them as babies – innocent, no care in the world but now I realize that time has shifted their behavior and their once innocent views.

I look at many marriages of friends and even my own, sometimes time was kind and other times it was not.

We cannot control time, it has a mind of its own. The past couple days have taught that while we cannot control time, we must be prepared for the things that will come as time moves. We must see the signs (because they are always there) and we must proactively prepare. Did we see this coming? Can anyone truly say we didn’t? What did we do? For most (like myself and a well known public figure) it was business as usual until crisis hit.

The past couple days have brought dread and fear to us all, time and it’s friends (that accompanies it) have now forced us into isolation. An isolation that has caused our eyes to be opened to what we have been blind to (whether intentionally because its not affecting us or otherwise).

SO HERE ARE THE 3 THINGS…

  • We are not taking care of our environment– (less pollution cleaner air). After all of this is said and done how can we contribute through our products and services to ensure that our environment remains protected? Can we incorporate recyclables, can we Go Green and use more eco-friendly items? Can we be cleaner by simply disposing of our trash in a more responsible way?
  • We can do better at taking care of ourselves. (Building our immune system) – With all of the measures now being undertaken to build our immune system and lead healthier lives, can we continue and make our current practices a lifestyle? Quite possibly we will see a decline in mortality, we will be living healthier, less strain on our health resources. In effect our wellbeing is in our control to an extent.
  • We really need each other, not only as a support system to talk things through but as a means to function more meaningfully as human beings. No man is an island. Let us continue to be our brother’s keeper, something that this period necessitates. We are brought back full circle. We now see that there are neighbors across from us to interact with. We now SEE our children. We must continue this caring and sharing beyond our current crisis.

The Important ingredient in all of this!

Become more aware of what is really important. In this moment we are all on a leveled playing field that gives us a glimpse of what is truly important. And it is not the expensive cars or homes or clothes but at the basic level togetherness. Reaching out to each other consistently and in a genuine way, a way that allows us to really ask how are you doing and wait for an answer. We get a chance to heal ourselves and make better choices for ourselves. We get a chance to be present in the lives of our children and laud the fact that teachers are a gifted set of human beings. We appreciate the health workers, the sanitation workers so much more because we now understand that their support in keeping our lives together is priceless.

We are forced to return to the days where simplicity reigned as we look to an uncertain future. We reconnect to our true source, our creator God because that is what we do in times of crisis and uncertainty when OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT NEED IS HOPE. Hope that will keep our heads above the tide (of crisis) intent on pulling us in.

At the end of the day the choice to pollute our atmosphere less is ours. The choice to be genuinely caring and really seeing someone else is ours. The choice to take care of ourselves through eating better and exercising & reading more is ours.

The point is this, let it not be business as usual. Let us make sure that all that we are experiencing in the “now” becomes a part of us.

Life has no continuity without change.

TheBeyondWoman wishes all our women and their families LOVE & LIGHT and HOPE with lots of BLESSINGS!
