How To Handle Distraction In Two simple Steps

Read Time: 2 minutes:

The moment of drifting into thought has been so clipped by modern technology. Our lives are filled with distraction with smartphones and all the rest. People are so locked into not being present. —Glen Hansard

We are already in the middle of the year and I wonder how many of us are beginning to feel a bit concerned, questioning ourselves and wondering if we will be able to stick to the decisions we have made. Distractions maybe coming at us full force; Distractions in the form of thoughts saying to us   “yea, right! You cannot stay the course, these decisions will not stand!”  Thoughts brimming at the surface of our mind, ready to spill over into our life and become truth.

How many of us are dealing with this?

These thoughts that force their way into our minds and hearts, working against us, trying to stop the progress that has begun.
I think it best to acknowledge and accept that there are and will always be distractions intent on removing us from the path we have chosen. We will be okay once we do not give in, the danger is when we yield knowingly.

1. One of the solutions to reduce distraction is to be present.

Sounds pretty simple huh, think about it though. How do we become distracted? Isn’t it when we remove our focus from whatever we are doing at hand. At times we can do nothing about being distracted but there are times when we can intentionally take control and choose not to. Read this post I found on how to stay focused.

2. The other best thing is to understand the distraction. Make it serve us rather than becoming a stumbling block in our life.

Use it as a means through which we know that each time we conquer distraction it is causing us to grow.

Let us resolve that OUR MIND WILL BECOME PRESENT IN ALL THINGS AND THAT WE WILL USE THE DISTRACTION TO SERVE US. We have chartered a course for this year and will see it through with the help of God. We will turn to Him as many times as we need to; to refresh us – our minds and our hearts.

Prepare your minds and hearts and receive God’s seeds of purpose, focus determinedly and move towards becoming who you are called to be. Let us Stand strong, Stand firm, Stand resolute…

“INTEREST. Here is the key to the whole thing. If and when you are truly interested in what you are doing, or are about to do, then you will center your attention on it with little or no effort, and almost irrespective of the attendant conditions.”
