Don’t Be Hating When You Could Be Exfoliating, get smooth skin by following these suggestions.

Have you ever seen those women with smooth skin looking like butter? Well, my dears, you too can achieve the same result.  Let’s talk about some of the ways we can get our skin to look better than butter and feel like silk.

1.   Dry Brushing

Before taking a shower, use a dry, soft brush to gently rub your skin all over and remove dry skin and any flaking that may be occurring. Doing this will increase blood flow to certain areas of the body. You can find a good brush online or in your local pharmacy. If you don’t have a dry brush, use a dry rag, loofah sponge, or an exfoliating cloth. Dry brushing is the most affordable method of achieving smoother skin.

2.           Exfoliating Cream/Lotion

Use an exfoliating cream containing glycolic acid at least twice per week after bathing, and you will start revealing even smoother skin. Ask your esthetician or dermatologist to recommend a product because not all products are equal. What may work for one woman may not for you, and some may be too harsh for your skin. Using a product that is too harsh may lead to burns and may cause hyperpigmentation., I am unaware of anyone who loves to hear the word ‘hyperpigmentation’ so be careful. You may increase the use of the cream as your skin becomes more tolerant of the product(s). If your skin can tolerate it, you may use the exfoliating cream at night after dry brushing.

3.           Body Peels

Include in your weekly night routine (if you have one) a night or two for exfoliating? Or you may choose to see an aesthetician once every six weeks to get a professional body exfoliating treatment. Your aesthetician will use the right product(s) for your skin to achieve overall glow and smoothness. Remember that ‘Rome was not built in a day’ be patient, and the results will come. Trust the process.

4.           Body Scrub

Find a scrub that contains fine exfoliants like fine grain sugar scrubs and use it after cleansing by gently rubbing your skin with the product. It is best to use a scrub that contains hydrating and nourishing ingredients like green tea, kukui nut oils, horsetail, and jojoba oils. As you scrub away the build-up of dirt and dead cells, your skin will get the added benefits of the inclusive ingredients. Rinse the scrub, pat your skin dry and use a hydrating cream to seal in the moisture.

5.           Hair removal

Removing body hair will make your skin look and feel smoother. Get your body waxed or shaved and immediately feel lighter and also smoother. Hair does not weigh much but removing it somehow allows for a light feel.

Once you are done exfoliating or smoothing, please wear sunblock on your face and areas of the body exposed to the sun. Yes! Your face, hands, arms, fingers, legs, top of feet, toes, EVERYWHERE.

Afterall, prevention is better than cure and one’s body is one to be treasured and cared for. Go get your smooth skin!
