Dealing with the Pain of Failure & Disappointment

Read Time: 2 minutes:

There were periods of my life when a lot of people didn’t believe in me. I still had faith in myself. I really had to ask myself life questions. Where do I see myself in five years? Create a ladder for yourself, and walk up the steps. Climb that ladder. -Fergie

It seems far-fetched that having failed over and over again one can still succeed; some of us struggle with the ability to keep trying in the face of adversity. It brings to mind the story of the beggar who after going from car to car gave up before that one person who saw him and was willing to give.

To continue amidst many failure is a test of perseverance and this perseverance is what causes the success. In persevering one should not only try and try and try again but also look at the complete picture, make an assessment and be willing to try new things.

Here  are Five ways we recommend to deal with failure/ disappointment and to persevere:

Baby Steps – Our mantra is always baby steps. “Life is a series of baby steps along the way and if you add up these tiny little steps you take toward your goal, whatever it is, whether it’s giving up something, a terrible addiction or trying to work your way through an illness. When you total up those baby steps you’d be amazed over the course of 10 years, the strides you’ve taken”. Hoda Kotb

If you take baby steps, small steps through every uncertainty and you keep going you are sure to reach your goal – TheBeyondWoman

Positive reinforcement – Always, always be sure to surround yourself with people who lift you up. Read books that echo what you know in your heart and provide you with the right guidance including your Bible. Practice repeating empowering phrases and words it does wonders. When you get “in a ditch”, you will remember the people, the books and words and they will help you to rise above every disappointment and keep on.

Be habitual – In the face of failure and disappointment stick to your routine.

Every person who is heading to greatness MUST have a routine or good habits that will lead them even while in darkness – TheBeyondWoman

Accept that there is a reason for all things. – Believe that everything happens for a reason. At times it will be a struggle but the more it’s  accepted as a truth the more it becomes a part of you.

Feel it then Dance the feeling away. –  Allow the disappointment to reside with you for an instance then do something outside of the box. Something that goes against your nature- get out of your comfort zone and do something exciting that will take the attention away. It works.

At the end of the day accept that disappointments are not meant to hinder and put us at a standstill. Instead, view disappointments positively and believe that they are elevating you to a place you have never been before. Taking you one step closer to your perfection.
