BE THAT SEED

If we were to think of a plant that grows from a seed and see ourselves in a similar light; we would appreciate where we are today. We would better appreciate this journey called life. And we would not get frustrated easily and ready to call it quits.

I see this often, I get the calls, I get the texts… I HATE MY JOB, I HATE MY LIFE, I FEEL OVERWHELMED; NOTHING IS HAPPENING FOR ME, WHY IS SHE PROGRESSING AND I AM NOT…

This is the reality of many of us…not long ago I too was singing a similar tune. And on rare occasions I still do, but I thank God for prayer and a Spirit within that reminds me of this very thing I am going to share with you…

Life is a process. The seed I mentioned earlier needs to be prepared through germination. It needs to be nurtured in a safe environment, then planted. Once planted the seed will have to withstand the harshness of its environment… in most cases.

Similarly, we have to withstand the harshness sometimes hostility in our environment. We have to go through our germination process;which is unique to each of us and a process that may take time. THIS IS TO ENABLE US TO GROW FULLY INTO THE PERSON WE ARE CALLED TO BE; WITH THE NECESSARY CHARACTERISTICS (ROOTS) NEEDED TO IMPACT THOSE WE ARE CALLED TO.

We have to be prepared to face all that we will and we must. Failure to do so will cause us not to thrive. Despite the harshness of the circumstances; when we decide to thrive we can confidently share with others who will have to go through the same. It’s life!

If you were to reflect on your past, you may see that your present is very different from who you were yesterday, a week ago, a month, a year, decade etc. And so it really makes no sense to worry about the perception of others and oftentimes yours too. The fact that things are not happening in the time you expect (unless the delay is as a result of your actions or lack thereof).

It is senseless to look over at the neighbour’s yard; wondering why they are seemingly flourishing while you may be going through a stagnant valley. Because guess what, despite what it may seem, chances are you are indeed accomplishing more than you give yourself credit.

It is easy for us to say we are going up against outside forces and we should never fall into that trap. The truth is that we have choices in life to see our way out of every situation. We have the choice to see ourselves thriving and to move into action like the successful women we see around us who made something of their lives.

Are they any different from us? Was a magic wand waved over their heads? Did Almighty God favour them over you?

The true question is … Are you wallowing in a self-sabotaging pity party? Are you stuck in comparison, the thief of our greatness? What kind of activity or thought process are you participating in that may be causing you harm without you realizing?

My suggestion is to remain focused and steadfast. While you have no control over anyone else’s experience and the time frame in which you accomplish whatever you set out to accomplish, you have control over how you see yourself and the daily actions you take towards your goals. You have that.

Take control. Become accountable. Get a partner that will encourage you and help you to stay true to your predestined path. Do not give into thoughts that may hold you back; but push against the grain and become the super woman that you are. And do that for you!

This takes me back to the original dialogue; be the seed that was buried and with determination against adverse weather; against adverse situations that sprouted slowly and thrived and became the giant tree…

Be that seed!
