How To Live Every Day

Read Time: 2 minutes:

There is the saying that “you only live once”—YOLO, but for the purpose of this article, I will say, You Live Every Day And Die Only Once, and I will add Make it count!

As we get older, our health must take priority. As I interviewed women in different age groups, I can only conclude that younger women, on average, do not give much thought to their health and older women were sorry they had not given more attention to their health when they were younger.  A little laughable and ironic if you ask me.

Another conclusion drawn from the interview is that discipline plays a huge role in our health, ranging from exercise, sleeping habits, the food we eat, our breathing, and so much more, which are all involved in our quest towards good health. We must form good habits, and the earlier is the better to avoid regret later on. As we get older, it becomes harder for us to make the necessary commitment to ensure good health due to us being “set in our ways” and we would have developed a rhythm that we are comfortable with.

If you are inclined to live a better, healthier life, it is not too late.

How can we start?

Many women have recommended having an accountability partner or a personal trainer for those who can afford one, or to start a group at work, church, or whatever situation affords many people with similar goals. Doing so will facilitate a conducive environment to achieve goals within a group, rather than trying on our own. Groups lighten the load as each person assumes responsibility for different goals within the group for eg:-

A leader responsible for better eating habits may suggest a variety of meal plans for the week or someone who will ensure that specific areas of the body are targeted at specific times.

Whatever is needed for optimal health starts in our mind, followed by our commitment. Of course, we must talk about the financial aspect of a healthier lifestyle which may also play a significant part in the commitment aspect.

The following tips are for persons who have a tight budget. You too can ensure good health and the close to perfect body:

1. Water is free – Drink lots of it to flush the body and rid it of toxins and other pollutants.

2. Avoid fried food – any reduction in fried will go a far way on helping us to stay on the healthy radar.

3.  Power walk at least three times per week in your community. Power walking is an easy and effective way to lose weight.

4. Smile throughout the day. Smiling releases good feelings that keep us in a generally good mood and health.

5. Listen to music. Music soothes our spirit and promotes calmness and a sense of good emotions that is important for our overall well-being.

6. Dance when you can; an excellent way to keep in good health both mentally and physically. What more do we need?

7. Utilise a dining room chair to do SIT /STAND exercises – do this at least 25 times for the perfect workout. (3 repeats with 10 seconds rest intervals).

8. Youtube – There are many free routines and tips towards a better lifestyle that you can avail yourself of on youtube.

The above are just a few ideas to get you started on your journey to better health and a better body. Remember, discipline is key. Start a group, get an accountability partner and begin to take charge and control of yourself and your health.
