We are almost at the end of the first quarter of the year and already we have received word of the anxiety faced by some of our women in reaching their goals. Unfortunately we will have to contend with mental roadblocks once they rear their ugly heads. And so we decided to help a little bit in getting us all back on track. The key lies in understanding that occasionally we will ‘fall off’, but what we do after that is important. Do we stay down or do we get back up? Is it time to look/change our strategy – shift some gears so to speak and importantly, remind ourselves of two words “baby steps”.

Labouring over our goals, surely makes it a little hard…so, having fun way while we are striving towards them as well as reminding ourselves of our “WHY” makes reaching our goals that much easier. That sucker (our why) is so important. If our “why” is not strong enough, then perhaps we have to revisit our goals/reasons and develop a stronger one (why).

So without further ado, listed below are our 5 ways to get over the mental roadblocks that arise in reaching our goals.

  1. Recognize you are human –  understanding our humanity is so important. We are not super heroines as much as we would want to be. Remember that we cannot solve the world’s problems but we can solve ours first and then look to helping others. We will make mistakes. We will make wrong decisions. We will get tired. So cut yourself some slack and take your time to systematically accomplish that which you set out to do. Remember, everything takes time, some things will work while others will not. Give yourself a break will you!
  2. Practice repeating Affirmations – We believe in “what the mind can conceive, it can achieve“. We also believe that ‘death and life are in the power of the tongue‘. And so, we recommend watching what you say and what you think. Positive self talk goes a long way especially if said out loud. How about writing down words of affirmation that speaks to you and repeating them deliberately throughout the day. It changes the atmosphere, it elevates your mood. Try It!
  3. Do something out of the norm for you – This is a big one for us. We believe in pushing boundaries. Do something that you would not normally do especially if it brings joy to someone else or if it is something that takes you out of your comfort space/zone. This will also elevate your mood and give you an assurance that you can be bigger and  better at being you.
  4. Do that “thing” even when you do not feel to – Push  when you feel like giving up. Decide to not give in. Love the following quote that says it all.

“There shall always be that voice that will tell you how you are wasting your time and ability, how you shall fail, how some tried and failed, why your prevailing slips are indications of your future doom, why you are unworthy to dare, why your background mismatches your vision and aspiration, why your personality misfits your mission and how arduous the errand is. You have a choice. You have your thought. You have what burns in you that tells you how you can make it. Though the world may be interested in your success, it is much interested in your slips and mediocrity as-well. Your vision must keep you in your mission. Dare in wisdom. Dare unrelentingly. Ponder!” ― Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

5. Take responsibility for your outcome. A lot of us “cry” that life is unfair, if you are that cry baby we want to refer you to that woman who has no arm or leg yet continues to live. We are sure that woman has crossed your purview. She is getting by (and we did not see a complaint). Mind you, we are also sure she has her down days where she feels like giving up. That we can understand but, not you, with every limb and your faculties intact. And so, our lives are a reflection of the choices we each make. We encourage all our women to understand this great truth, YOU can create a beautiful life if YOU choose to. Get over it and make the changes and stick to them. We are rallying for you.

Mental Roadblocks can seriously hamper our progress but we hope we helped in getting you back on track. Give some serious thought to the 5 Ways to overcome mental roadblocks and allow your path to become somewhat straightened allowing you to finish this quarter #strong.

Once again we are rallying for your success.
